Global Sounds Music Festival

My friend Katie is running this show and gave us a big old space in the parking lot across from Peace Park in order to play polo all day in front of a ton of peeps and listen to music and have a grand old time.

This is going to be more fun than you can shake a mallet at, but it all hinges on our ability to get the "border patrol" set from parks and rec.

Floppy, I am told that you are the man to talk to about contacting someone about this. Could you do me a big favor and get the ball rolling?

We really can't play in that lot without full boards, and it would be sweet to get the real thing and make it not look trashy (even though we are trashy).

Nothing I don't think! Just need those boards and Nick J has the number if I've been told correctly. They come in a trailer so no need to transport. Just get ready to play and look good doing it.

I think the price is $400 for the weekend. Does this music festival have funds for us?

Hmmm, if we don't get money from the festival, I might be willing to put up $200 for the set.

Edit: I'm aware it's $400 just to rent it. But if I pony up half of it, I figure we just need 20 of us polo players to contribute $10.

Christian perhaps you can make the contact. I always talk with Carol Riney at the parks department. She works out of an office at the Armory downtown. I think her email is clr@gocolumbiamo.com

I can't stand e-mail...unless that's what she prefers.

We need to go scout the parking lot for a big enough spot to put it first. A lot of that parking lot is slated.

That price is absurd. I would like to give this "Carol" a piece of my mind on the subject and I will get in contact with her.

Christian, while that's super dope of you, I think we should definitely not pay that much money, if only out of principle.

Also, yes the lot is slanted but we will just have to make due. I've looked at it many times and it will work fine, even if it is not exactly perfect.

And I think I'll take slants over cracks.

The court will be closer in size to Hitt, not Cosmo, right?

This is a reasonable price to me. If everyone threw in $5, we'd be very close to meeting the whole price.

We are responsible for transportation. (My truck has a hitch).

Nick, FYI...the trailer the court is stored in is basically a tractor trailer. It ain't small.

NO it is not stored in a truck. It is stored in the hanger out at cosmo. There is no trailer. When we used it they loaned us the hippy van to store it in so they didn't have to have people working over the weekend to move it. I think it will take two trips in your truck with lots of bungees or one trip by two trucks, looking at you Andrew. Also $5 a piece means 19 people willing to pay. I get the feeling you will come up short on that number but perhaps we can put out a tip jar and collect pocket change as payment is due after the fact. Also I doubt I can come that day. We shall see...

I'm in for 5 and I have a pick-up too, with ratchet straps. I also think we should be making fliers like Charlie talked about. Advertising this event though.
