So who all is planning on going to this (spectators, players, teams, drivers) I would like to go, if anyone wants to put a team together I would consider it or just go to hangout and watch.

me, Aimee and Courtney were interested in going and playing on a team.

Aaron, Kit and i are going as a team. Naked.

Yes, we are playing as a team. Michael from Louisville is claiming they're doing a 24 team cut-off for this tournament, and places in the area will likely be fielding multiple teams...i.e. Bloomington, Cleveland, Lexington, etc.

he asked aaron to email him back with how many we'd be bringing and if we needed housing. should we tell him 4 teams at most?

We can say 4 for now, just to get our foot in the door, and then decide SOON who all is playing. If you don't know for certain (like 90% certain) if you can go then let someone else from our club OR another club have that spot. That is just my idea.

Colleen is wrong...it's just Cheeseburger Liquor Party. It can be a Cheeseburger Picnic or a Cheeseburger Liquor Party....it cannot be both.

I would go, but my schedule is tight. Would have to leave Fri. evening and be back before work on Mon. morn. in someone else's vehicle. I know, I know...I'm a pain in the ass.

well just so ya'll know, we've got a spot reserved for three teams right now. jimmy, zach and i sat down last night and we realized we already had about 22 teams saying they're coming ... so we may bump the number up to 28 or so, or if interest keeps increasing make this a 2day swiss/tourney, so don't feel limited to 3 teams if more people want to make the journey. we have lights so im not worried about it running late, just people getting bored because they have to sit around so long (which i hate.)

Tim A, tim d and i would be in the same boat. leave friday, come back sunday.

I think I have to be in class until 5 that Friday and give a presentation that day.

Ill prob have to leave friday and return on sunday too. Aaron and jon when are you guys leavin/coming back?

i updated the league post. this will be only a 1 day tourney, you guys arent the only ones with tight schedules. however, we are looking to bump it to a max of 28 or 30. madness will prevail.

we are trying to find housing for everyone because Derby is fucking stupid expensive for hotels as you can imagine.
that being said ... who has a tent? we are looking to house as many people inside but the weather should be nice and most of us have houses with decent to big backyards that can hold anywhere from 2-6 multi person tents. if you can let me know because we've got a google doc going right now with close to 90 people we are trying to house ...

im getting stoked on tent city. looks like every house with people has a yard, so there should be good crews going at all of them, plus everyone is fairly close to one another so you could easily hop from spot to spot.

I'm not driving... Jonathon was going to, maybe. I do have a three bike rack we could put on one of the cars though. My bike! plus 2

**I should say at least im not driving the Pickup. But could drive my blazer if need be and it will hold 4 people plus 3 bikes broken down and 3 bikes on my rack.

If we took John's car, with a rack, we could probably take like 5 or 6 bikes, he has a lot of extra space in the wagon. But that's still 6 or 7 bikes with no way of getting there.

we might be able to take wheels off and put a bunch of bikes in the Van, but I can't quite remember how much space there really is in that old van. its quite big tho

Taking trucks is a bad idea. A car with a rack is always more efficient.

Just in case you wanted my opinion.

That is why im not taking the Pickup truck but the blazer is not bad. comfortable for 4 people for a long ride and has room in back for 3-4 broken down bikes depending on how efficiently we pack them and then my bike rack, 3 more bikes. But if we dont have to take mine then that is fine by me.

if the people riding in my car were in another car, i could prob fit 6-8 bikes in the back of my car with the back seats down, rack on the back holding 3, so 9-11 bikes. never forget. i'm down for whatever works best.

Vince's van can hold 7, and then if john and I ride in his car with the back seats down we can probably fit most of the bikes, so then we would need one more car with a bike rack on it for the other 3 people. Anyone else down to drive?

Lets get SPECIFIC with what the fuck and who the fuck goes in each car. Fill in my blanks!!! I estimate $145/per car. Vince's van even more expensive. I figure most will pack light and you can fit it in the car you ride in. Tent can be packed in wherever or in the van.

Man, 3 months ago this trip would have cost less than $90 in gas per car.

Fuel is projected to keep rising and remain at an average of $3.90/gal for at least the next two years.

Traveling is going to be so much more expensive.

I'm not taking the van unless its totally full. If John's car has 4, Tims has 4, its stupid to take a gas guzzler van for 4 people...

We should try to do this in 2 cars. We could easily fit 8 people in my van. If anyone has a good rack that is adjustable to fit a vertical surface like the back of a van, we could do 4 in 4 out easy

nic has a really good rack, so that might be doable. nic you should see if itll work on there and then we could use john's rack on his car

Not quite, but it is huge. It's got quite a lot of room, 3 rows of seating, including a folding bed/couch, and a raised roof with compartments. I'm brining it tomorrow to polo with the goals (at least to the bottom of the garage) so yall can take a look inside

UPDATE:

After an empirical study (putting bikes in the van), my hypothesis has been confirmed. We fit 3 bikes and 6 wheels (all I had laying around) with PLENTY of room, just in the back area. I estimate that 4-5 bikes would fit back there, with room above them for lots of gear

Tim D's car has a 4 bike rack, and can fit 4 people comfortably enough. I am pretty sure it can also carry the gear of all 4 people in the trunk/on your lap but dont take my word on that.
We are leaving later, so, ideally, we take a 4th that's OK with that.
